I haven't read the Harry Potter books, or most of the other YA magical high school type books. I did read the first three House of Night books, though, several years ago. I don't remember much, but they were okay. I'm only adding this because some of the reviewers made a big deal out of this being another magic misfit in a special school story. Meh. So, my reviews of this series will not be comparing these books to any others. FWIW
